Parenting Model

Think of your kids like a copy machine who will copy or imitate everything you do. If you make poor choices in behavior, you are likely giving them permission to act in the same ways. Check in with yourself, and don’t lose it in front of the children.

Your Children Deserve to have your Positive Attention

Your kids deserve positive attention. If the positive attention from a certain family doesn't meet the children's situational requirements, they may choose to seek out negative attention. This is because they don't like to be ignored and opt negative attention to meet emotional requirement. Remember the only view point that the positive attention is the greatest healer.

Guide them Through their Weaknesses and Mistakes

punishment has never been the substitute to satisfy emotional requirements. This is the only reason why punishment is not as effective as rewards or praise. If you are well focused on your child's weaknesses, find ways to assist your child in developing to their full potential. Encourage them to compensate their deficiencies.

Don't React with Negative Emotions to your Children's Behavior

If your child is unable to control negative responses like anger, sarcasm and ridicule, s/he may consider his grievances as reality that is lately used to justify himself correct. It is better practice to use mild verbal phrases to remind your child to focus, for example, “LPA,” for “let’s pay attention.”
